Cloud Expo 2017 East Topics

Track 1. Enterprise Cloud & Digital Transformation
Cloud Computing is now in use by 100% of Global 2000 enterprises, as well as millions of other enterprises and organizations throughout the world. The focus now is on Digital Transformation. How can companies leverage the technology to instill new business practices and modern services for their customers? How do they achieve new growth in revenue and profitability?
Track 2. FinTech | Cloud Hot Topics
FinTech brings efficiency as well as the ability to deliver new services and a much improved customer experience throughout the global financial services industry. FinTech is a natural fit with cloud computing, as new services are quickly developed, deployed, and scaled on public, private, and hybrid clouds.
Track 3. APIs | Cloud Security | Mobility
Mobile traffic now exceeds 50% of all data being generated and continues to grow. Planning an enterprise IT initiative without mobile is now unthinkable. Yet there are serious data and device integration issues as well as security issues. This track focuses on how to design for mobile devices and secure all the identities and data in this new world.
Track 4. DevOps, Containers & Microservices
Widely distributed cloud apps and services press the need for continuous development, delivery, and integration. DevOps culture is being created to meet these demands. A microservice doesn't necessarily mean a small service. In fact, some of the most aggressive and complex initiatives now use the non-virtualized approach of containers and microservices.
Track 5. Big Data | Analytics
Big Data comes in any number of varieties, volumes, and velocities. There are traditional, large files. There are firehoses of "Little Big Data" coming from myriad new sensors and other devices, and there is a new class of "Dark Data" that remains hidden unless the latest in analytics are brought to bear. Learn the latest in this track.
Track 6. Cognitive Computing | AI, ML, DL
We are now in the third, and most successful, generation of groundbreaking Artificial Intelligence (AI) research and deployments. With it comes new capabilities for Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL), as organizations of all sizes work to create and use new insights from their existing operations while also seeking to develop new ways of making their systems and their organizations much smarter.
Track 7. Enterprise IoT | IoT Hot Topics
There are indeed several Internets of Things - the Industrial Internet, personal and institutional healthcare transformation, wearables and fashion, and a vast array of developments with Smart Devices, Connected Cars, Smart Grids, Smart Cities, and Smart Nations. Yet the IoT is still in its early days, so each year brings a wealth of new devices, software, and IoT deployments.
Track 8. IoT Developer | Consumer IoT | IIoT
IoT Developer focuses on the latest in IoT developer trends and techniques with an emphasis on real-world use cases that deliver positive business results. The Industrial IoT promises a new era of high-end manufacturing on a global basis, while cities, regions, and nations are leveraging similar technologies to develop smart services for their citizens. The latest in consumer IoT is also found here.

Recently, REAN Cloud built a digital concierge for a North Carolina hospital that had observed that most patient call button questions were repetitive. In addition, the paper-based process used to measure patient health metrics was laborious, not in real-time and sometimes error-prone. In their session at 21st Cloud Expo, Sean Finnerty, Executive Director, Practice Lead, Health Care & Life Science at REAN Cloud, and Dr. S.P.T. Krishnan, Principal Architect at REAN Cloud, discussed how they built an Alexa-powered voice application for both patients and nurses. Patients got answers for common qu...
When talking IoT we often focus on the devices, the sensors, the hardware itself. The new smart appliances, the new smart or self-driving cars (which are amalgamations of many ‘things'). When we are looking at the world of IoT, we should take a step back, look at the big picture. What value are these devices providing. IoT is not about the devices, its about the data consumed and generated. The devices are tools, mechanisms, conduits. This paper discusses the considerations when dealing with the massive amount of information associated with these devices. Ed presented sought out sessions at Cl...

Containers and Kubernetes allow for code portability across on-premise VMs, bare metal, or multiple cloud provider environments. Yet, despite this portability promise, developers may include configuration and application definitions that constrain or even eliminate application portability. In this session we'll describe best practices for "configuration as code" in a Kubernetes environment. We will demonstrate how a properly constructed containerized app can be deployed to both Amazon and Azure using the Kublr platform, and how Kubernetes objects, such as persistent volumes, ingress rules, and...
Digital Transformation: Preparing Cloud & IoT Security for the Age of Artificial Intelligence. As automation and artificial intelligence (AI) power solution development and delivery, many businesses need to build backend cloud capabilities. Well-poised organizations, marketing smart devices with AI and BlockChain capabilities prepare to refine compliance and regulatory capabilities in 2018. Volumes of health, financial, technical and privacy data, along with tightening compliance requirements by FTC, CUI/DFARS, EU-GDPR and the underlying National Cybersecurity Framework suggest the need for a ...
